JMT's Charleston Construction Management Team is seeking an Inspector II to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
- Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
- Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
- Gathers and maintains record documents
- Makes field notes and computations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Computer Proficiency
- Active driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
- 3 to 5 years of Highway and Bridge Construction Inspection and Materials Testing Experience
- SCDOT Asphalt Roadway, Earthwork and Base Course, and Concrete Technician Certifications
- ACI Field-Grade 1 Technician Certification
- Associate’s Degree in Construction Management preferred
- SCDOT Foundations Technician Certification preferred
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
