Position Overview
Directs, coordinates and is responsible for the planning, organization, control, integration and completion of a construction project within a local company. Also responsible for using a combination of past experiences and project specifications to accurately project the amount of materials, equipment, and man hours that must be utilized in order to complete a given project. Utilize knowledge and bidding software to generate bids for projects.
Key Responsibilities- Travel to potential sites to evaluate existing conditions and meet with site owners and/or owner’s representatives.
- Bid on a competitive basis and submit quotes to primes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with owner, contractors, and engineers.
- Track and adjust quantities through all phases of each project.
- Prepare estimates, proposals, sealed bids, and sub contracts.
- Generate various reports required by immediate supervisor.
- Plan, organize and staff key field positions through regional department heads.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
- Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Represent company in project meetings; assist in strategy meetings, etc.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/ExperienceConstruction Management or Civil Engineering degree or equivalent in training and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction; design, finance, and management preferred.
Work RequirementsMust be 18 years in age or older.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements, i.e., DL/CDL, Class A and/or B Driver with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements. Valid DOT Medical Card a plus, preferred but not required.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is:
Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes and Safety Vest.
Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
Regular work attendance is a requirement for this position.
Knowledge/Skill RequirementsAbility to apply innovation and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital.
Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
Ability to drive change and sell new concepts and approaches through persistence, self-motivation, energy, tenacity, follow-through, and commitment.

Requires the following motions on occasion: bending, kneeling, and squatting, climbing, reaching, fine motor and repetitive motion.
Requires the following motions frequently: standing, walking, sitting.
Requires occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. with or without assistance.
Work EnvironmentThis position will be based out of a division, branch, or project office.
May require exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
Will require exposure to dust and dirt.
