Overview
NOTE: An employee appointed to a position which will require the services of an employee, up to 40 hours per week, to perform seasonal work activities for a continuous period not exceeding 120 calendar days.
An employee in this class performs, coordinates assigned work crews in a variety of park security, custodial and maintenance activities at Pioneer and Meinert County Parks under the general supervision of higher level park personnel. The Park Crew Leader oversees Park Rangers as they patrol areas to ensure safe and orderly use of park facilities, processes registrations and accepts fees, grooms beaches, cleans campsites and assists in routine maintenance activities.
Employees in this class may be required to work any of three shifts including weekends and holidays and perform related duties as assigned.
- Oversee Park Rangers and coordinate park security, custodial and maintenance activities.
- Patrol park facilities to ensure safe and orderly use; process registrations and fees; groom beaches; clean campsites; assist in routine maintenance.
- Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A Park Crew Leader must be in good physical condition to allow for extensive walking, climbing, pulling and moving objects weighing 50 pounds or more, working in various weather conditions, and ability to perform physical labor.
Environmental ConditionsEmployees generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Evaluation ContentThe selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position.
When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.
Any applicant is entitled to a review of any determination or action taken by the County regarding the applicant’s employment application. Inquiries should be directed to the County Human Resources Department.
PurposeThe purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
