Description

Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development (2010), under general supervision of the Clinical Service Director and in collaboration with the Clinical Service Leadership Team, the incumbent is accountable for advancing and maintaining clinical staff competence, enhancing professional nursing practice, and supporting career goals for nurses across the novice to expert continuum. This role builds an environment that promotes lifelong learning, supports development of effective and innovative continuing education activities, implements evidence‑based practice innovations, and continuously evaluates learning needs to ensure efficient, effective, ethical, safe, quality, and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data related to educational needs and other pertinent situations.
  • Identify target audiences, general purposes, educational objectives, and desired outcomes for each learning activity.
  • Develop plans describing strategies, alternatives, and resources to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Ensure educational activities are implemented and conduct comprehensive evaluations of each activity.
  • Coordinate educational initiatives and activities, employing strategies to promote positive learning environments.
  • Provide consultation to influence plans, enhance abilities of others, and effect change.
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program; BSN required.
  • MSN or related Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in Michigan.
  • CPR or BCLS Certified.
  • Certification in a specialty completed or active plans to pursue preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience with validated opportunities to apply principles of adult education.
  • Ability to develop innovative education opportunities and demonstrate excellence as educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher, and leader.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience in identified or related specialty preferred.
