Physical Therapy Assistant (Full Time, PTA) - Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital
The physical therapist assistant will work with the evaluating physical therapist to administer a medically prescribed physical therapy program for their assigned patients/clients. They will provide care under the supervision of the physical therapist responsible for a specific patient’s/client’s care. The physical therapist assistant assumes the responsibility and accountability for providing physical therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by the plan of care established by a physical therapist and in accordance with the State of Michigan Public Health Code Act, 368 of 1978, in addition to established facility and departmental policies and procedures.
The physical therapist assistant works cooperatively with the patient’s team personnel in maintaining standards of professional practice and interdisciplinary teamwork to maintain the highest degree of quality care.
The physical therapist assistant is responsible for the maintenance of continuing education requirements, certification, and state licensure requirements. The physical therapist assistant is responsible to the service area manager and/or designated site leader.

Required Education- Graduate from a physical therapist assistant training program accredited by American Physical Therapy Association.
- Associate’s Degree.
- State of Michigan Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
- Preferred: 1-year of professional experience
- American Heart Association BLS or equivalent
- Competency of Microsoft suite of office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams)
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient and effective use of EMR standards
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills necessary to interact with patients, peers, and providers to maintain and promote positive relationships
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to portray a professional customer image
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to problem solve effectively based on established policies and procedures
