Overview
The Regional Water System Supervisor, under the general supervision of the Director Public Works, performs a variety of technical duties including meter reading, repair and maintenance, customer service, and maintenance and upgrade of the water system database. This position supervises multiple division functions including data management, contracted water system maintenance, and water system accounting. The employee may be called in to work at night or on weekends on an as-needed basis.
The Regional Water System Supervisor performs other related duties as assigned.
- Supervise data management, contracted water system maintenance, and water system accounting.
- Perform meter reading, repair and maintenance work, and provide customer service related to the water system.
- Maintain and upgrade the water system database.
- Work on an as-needed basis during nights or weekends as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or sciences AND have a minimum of two (2) years full-time paid work experience in public works operations;
OR must have a minimum of eight (8) years full-time paid work experience in public works operations. - Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s license.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of employment an S-2 water distribution certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
An employee in this class must be in good physical condition to perform lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds or more and to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods while performing job duties.
Environmental ConditionsAn employee in this class performs job duties outdoors year-round in a variety of weather conditions as well as inside the Public Works offices.
Evaluation ContentThe selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and a drug screening test conducted by a County-appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position.
When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment becomes permanent.
Any applicant is entitled to a review of any determination or action taken by the County regarding the applicant’s employment application. Inquiries should be directed to the County Human Resources Department.
PurposeThe purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has the option to select candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
