The Muskegon County Road Commission is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking professional to join our team as Assistant County Highway Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a solid engineering foundation who is eager to continue developing their expertise in public infrastructure, project management, and roadway design.
We are looking for candidates who bring: A working knowledge—or the ability and willingness to learn—principles and practices of civil engineering as they relate to county highway systems and applicable laws. Familiarity with (or interest in developing skills in) modern methods of highway construction, maintenance, and materials. An understanding of drainage, hydraulics, hydrology, and soils, or the aptitude to grow in these areas.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in planning, constructing, and maintaining highways, bridges, and related structures.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Michigan, or the ability to obtain licensure within one year, is desirable.
