This brand new men’s program seeks a Head Volleyball Coach to lead all aspects of the team. The coach will develop short‑ and long‑term objectives, recruit student‑athletes, manage practice and conditioning, travel arrangements, and academic monitoring. The primary focus is student athletes’ academic success, development, and a positive team culture.
General DescriptionAssumes responsibility for all aspects of the program, including planning, teaching fundamentals and advanced skills, scouting opponents, providing expert advice, mentoring, and monitoring academic progress. Responsible for coaching, practice, conditioning, travel arrangements, and recruitment. Primary focus is on student athletes’ academic success and development.
Qualifications- High School Diploma required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - Two years minimum coaching experience.
- Ability to recruit talented student athletes.

- Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Possess strong knowledge and love of the sport.
- Knowledge of sport training and strategies.

- Abide by the rules and regulations of the leagues in which you will be competing.
- Proven record of building rapport with a variety of students.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, staff, and outside persons.
- Demonstrated use of tact, judgment, and discretion; maintain confidentiality when working with students, faculty, staff, and others.

- Teach collegiate‑level skills and knowledge to student‑athletes, verbally and through demonstration.
- Manage and reconcile expenses within the team budget.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to assistant coaches.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and pass a background check for driving college vehicles.
- Show loyalty and support for all Muskegon Community College sports.
- Provide moral support and ensure the safety and well‑being of student‑athletes.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and computer use.
- Motivate students and the team with integrity, ethics, and dedication to MCC.
- Communicate efficiently and maintain confidentiality.
- Support compliance with NJCAA Sportsmanship Policy.
