Adjunct Pool Philosophy Instructor

Overview

Muskegon Community College, an associate degree-granting institution, invites qualified candidates to serve as Adjunct Instructors. The Adjunct Instructor Pool remains open for application; an immediate opening is not guaranteed. Department chairs review applicant materials in advance of instructional needs, selecting qualified candidates for future part‑time teaching positions.

• Teach assigned courses, including day, night, online, and extension center classes, meeting scheduled times and full allotted periods.
• Create an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
• Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
• Grade assignments in a meaningful way, returning graded work to students timely, and assign final grades to all students, meeting institutional deadlines.
• Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled office hours or by appointment.
• Encourage completion of student opinion surveys for each class, reviewing summary data to assist in increasing student success.
• Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training or hour requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in the discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline.
• Preferred teaching experience at the college level.
• Demonstrated ability to work with all populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
• Preferred experience with instructional technology.

Physical Demands include standing, walking, sitting, carrying up to 25 lbs, twisting, bending, and other tasks.
Work Environment is a normal office environment with limited discomfort; ability to travel to all campus locations is required.
