Physician -Psychiatry

Overview

We are looking for a doctor to provide care for adult patients in a special mental health unit. Your main duties will include:

• Conduct initial evaluations of patients to understand their mental health conditions.
• Diagnose mental health issues and manage their treatment plans.
• Prescribe and monitor medications that help with mental health, while working with a care team.
• Work closely every day with a team that includes nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, case managers, and other specialists.
• Join daily meetings to discuss patient care and how to best support them.
• Keep accurate records of patient information in the electronic medical record system.
• Follow a regular work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility based on the doctor’s needs.
• Take turns with weekend calls on a rotating schedule of every fourth weekend.
• Optionally work extra shifts for additional pay if interested.
• Help teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in a learning environment.
• Have the chance to explore other interests like research, outpatient care, or leadership roles based on personal and departmental goals.

• Open to experienced doctors or recent graduates who are Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• New graduates are also welcome to apply.
• Doctors must be Board Certified in their specialty or Board Eligible and become Board Certified within 2 years of being eligible.

• Must be Board Eligible (able to become Board Certified within 2 years) - this is a must.
• Valid Michigan license is required at the time of employment.
• DEA registration is required.
• BLS certification is required and must be updated regularly.

If you are Board Eligible, you must become Board Certified within 2 years. You also need a valid Michigan license, a DEA license, and BLS Certification with regular updates.
