Muskegon Community College is a center for lifelong learning that helps people attain their educational goals by offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs. MCC is an associate degree-granting institution of higher education and an applied technology leader for high-tech, hands-on training. The college operates multiple locations including the Muskegon main campus and extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo Counties, with facilities such as the Hendrik Meijer Library & Information Technology Center, and other academic and student service spaces.
General DescriptionPerform clerical duties and assistance for the department (DSS and Jayhawk Hub within Student Success) to maintain a professional, well-organized and friendly environment among the students, faculty/staff and visitors. Duties include clerical, receptionist, scheduling, and other assignments relative to efficient operations of the department and/or college.

Full time — 40 Hours/52 Weeks
Pay
: $17.91 - $19.57 per hour, depending on experience
College Hours
:
Monday 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Tuesday–Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Occasional evenings and weekends, variation with supervisor.
Required Skills
- Associate’s Degree or 3 years’ experience
- Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to operate office technology, software, and equipment; establish yourself as the “go to” person
- Ability and willingness to upgrade skills including technology or process changes
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and outside persons

- Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality when working with students, faculty/staff and others

- Flexible scheduling and willingness to work evenings/weekends for orientation, events, and office coverage
- Prolonged sitting/standing, keyboarding, and computer work
- Serve as receptionist for Jayhawk Hub and Disability Support Services; answer routine questions, route calls, and provide directions as needed
- Maintain inventory for student pantry; unloading, organizing, restocking and tracking usage
- triage requests to determine needed assistance; assist with check-in processes for Jayhawk Hub, Disability Support applications, MCC applications, FAFSA, and other financial aid questions
- Resolve or assist with resolution of complaints or concerns using tact and problem-solving
- Administer departmental scheduling systems to ensure meetings and appointments are accounted for
- Obtain student records and prepare daily agendas; update student records in Colleague
- Prepare and type correspondence; manage mailings and reminders for appointments
- Coordinate meetings and events, including venue, food service, AV, agendas; take and distribute minutes
- Prepare faculty load sheets and ensure appropriate compensation approvals
- Maintain filing systems, office supplies and inventories within budget
- Process travel requests, POs and expense reports
- Assist with development and maintenance of department website and portal pages
- Screen, hire, mentor, train, evaluate and discipline student workers/interns as assigned
