General Accountant
Location: Muskegon, MI
Schedule: Full-time | M-F | Flexible hours
Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 annually

Overview
We’re partnering with a manufacturing organization in Muskegon that’s looking to add a General Accountant to their team. This role goes beyond traditional AP/AR and is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and collaborating across departments. The environment is hands-on and fast-moving, with flexibility and autonomy once trained.

General Accountant Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable

• Process a moderate AP volume (a few hundred invoices per week, well under 500)

• Handle invoices primarily received via email; some vendors do not require PO matching

• Reconcile AP with receiving and partner with the receiving team to resolve discrepancies

• Allocate certain AP transactions across projects

Document Management

• Scan, process, and organize documents to ensure proper storage within the network

• Maintain accurate and well-organized digital files

Reporting

• Prepare basic transaction-level and plant-related reports

• Perform verification and review steps to ensure accuracy and completeness

Administrative Support

• Support HR and payroll teams as needed by sharing documentation and information

• Follow up with internal teams to gather missing details or resolve questions

General Accountant Qualifications – Required

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to analyze issues and determine next steps

• Self-sufficient and independent once trained

• Open to entry-level candidates with an associate’s degree or more experienced candidates without a degree

• Flexibility and adaptability—this is not a typical AP/AR role and includes cross-functional coordination

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Accounting or related degree

• Entry-level candidates are welcome, though experienced candidates will also be considered

• Exposure to project accounting, WIP, or cost accounting (can be an advantage, but not required)
