Sharing cultural values breeds consistency and quality throughout our organization.
Collectively, we are committed to a simple management approach, which influences our company culture and our management style.
- Print production: A technician operates and monitors a range of digital and offset presses to produce high-quality print jobs according to customer specifications. This includes producing printed materials, signage, and other items.
- Equipment setup and maintenance:
Before a print run, the technician prepares equipment by installing plates, adjusting settings for color and registration, and loading the correct paper stock. They also perform preventative maintenance and clean equipment regularly. - File preparation and processing:
For digital print jobs, they work with computers to process files provided by clients, download data, and manipulate settings to ensure files are print-ready. Software proficiency with programs like Adobe Acrobat or InDesign is often required. - Quality assurance:
Technicians conduct ongoing quality checks during print runs, collecting random samples and making adjustments to ensure consistency and prevent misprints. They also perform a final inspection of finished products. - Troubleshooting and repairs:
They diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues that arise with the printing equipment. For major malfunctions, they may coordinate with maintenance personnel or vendor service providers. - Finishing and binding:
After a job is printed, the technician operates bindery equipment to complete the order. This includes cutting, collating, folding, drilling, and binding materials. - Material handling and inventory:
Technicians manage the stock of ink, paper, and other supplies needed for production. This involves tracking inventory levels, reordering when necessary, and moving supplies to storage or work areas. - Customer service and delivery:
Depending on the role, a technician may assist customers with orders, explain technical concepts in simple terms, or deliver finished materials using a company vehicle. - Responsible for some of our assembly/kitting work and other duties as assigned.
