POSITION PURPOSE

The general manager oversees many operations related to the manufacture and distribution of goods and provides strategic direction to the entire organization from the management team through entry-level production employees. This role leads operational and organizational strategy, ensures alignment across departments, and drives performance within manufacturing and distribution. The General Manager develops and guides leaders at all levels, provides ongoing feedback, and implements team building and engagement strategies that support a strong, cohesive workforce.

This position also leads and ensures that company objectives, processes, and standards are consistently met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Establish, implement, and maintain the vision, mission statement and long-term strategy
  • Develop and manage an annual business plan and operating budget for corporate leadership approval.

  • Analyze and continually assess the organization’s performance, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Oversee the development of manufacturing processes and systems that produce quality products within cost, efficiency, and delivery targets.
  • Coordinate all manufacturing and support functions to achieve operational excellence and financial goals.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed established quality standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Manage the performance of staff and senior management through effective KPIs, goals, and reviews
  • Maintain compliance with all local and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and support company safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe working environment aligned with legal and internal standards.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and demonstrate the importance of supporting direct reports and cross-functional partners.
  • Support and implement all sustainability objectives and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Competencies and Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive/senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, budgeting and operational decision-making.
  • Knowledge of core business functions such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Operations, and Manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical ability aptitude with the ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to drive alignment across teams.
Preferred
  • 10+ years of management.
  • 5+ years of General Manager experience.
  • 15+ years of engineering or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a multi-site, multi-product, or high-mixed-volume production environment.
  • Education
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience totaling 15+ years.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex operational environments.
Preferred
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, Engineering, Operations) or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, Lean, Six Signa, or similar.
  • Advance knowledge in data analysis, performance metrics, and systems/process optimization.
