Scopeof Position
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Security, the security officer is responsible for securing and protecting property, guests, and colleagues, ensuring that all safety and security procedures are followed.
Responsibilities- Reports on all incidents, raises them to the immediate supervisor and follows through until handed over.
- Monitors and manages the entrance onto the property of all personnel and restricts access to unauthorized individuals.
- Monitors, manages, and controls access of all vehicles onto the property and reports any attempted breaches by unauthorized vehicles.
- Issues and collects all keys and security passes, ensuring safekeeping of any identification retained as deposits.
- Maintains visitors/contractors’ logbooks and verifies and files Property Removal Authorisations.
- Controls access and egress into sensitive duty posts and monitors for unregistered guests, diverting them to reception.
- Collaborates with front office colleagues to monitor and control traffic movement within the property.
- Ensures unauthorized parking only occurs in designated areas and maintains all related registers and logbooks.
- Completes all reports in GSIICS and updates them as required.
- Implements crowd control measures where necessary and manages responsibilities within GSOM.
- Actively reports any incidents, actual or suspicious, to the relevant supervisor and acts to maintain safety and security.
- Stays fully informed of departmental policies, procedures, and updates.
- Conducts full security and fire, life safety patrols, reporting defects and irregularities through correct channels.
- Ensures lost and found property is processed and stored in a timely manner and hand‑over pending duties to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Enforces all policies related to the specific posting, including contractor access.
- Escalates incidents to the appropriate person or department as the situation requires.
- Patrols all posts and performs any other duties assigned by the Director of Security, including reasonable tasks required by ExCom.
