Sales Manager - Distributor

- Be responsible for the Country Sales; executing all aspects of sales strategy including pricing, product mix, merchandising, channel development, distribution, etc. through the Distributor’s team to ensure achievement of top-line and bottom-line sales targets and growth in market share.
- Manage Distributor Relationships including negotiating Annual Primary and secondary sales budgets in line with management guidelines.
- Monitor Trade spending within approved levels. Check/verify the distributor's trade spending related to debit notes and ensure no overspending or deviation occurs.
- Monitor Numerical Coverage and Distribution, progress needs to be complied with as per agreed parameters.
- Measure and review channels & Customer performance. Conduct regular retail audits to report noncompliance with MSL and Share the shelf with the distributor and Country manager. Notify repeated violations and reach a corrective action plan.
- Have an instrumental role in launching new Categories/SKUs and ensure speed to market with frequent feedback to management.
- Coach distributor sales and merchandising teams to comply with Fine point-of-sale guidelines. Conduct weekly sales meetings to review sales category and Channel performance and identify areas of opportunity. This job requires a heavy focus on Distributor in market sales, monitoring daily IMS by category, by channel from distributor sales reports, and following up with local sales managers.
- Report periodic competitor activities and monthly Competitive pricing.
- Prepare reports of sales metrics over a specified period – monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
- Lead the BDA plans with the distributor and achieve ´win-win´ joint business plans with key accounts establishing the Joint Value Creation (JVC) concept.
- Participate in Distributor monthly forecast meetings and agree on monthly forecast numbers in coordination with the Country manager, convey sales forecast to the Supply chain team. Ensure distributor purchase orders are as per the agreed forecast.
- Monitor distributor stock report and ensure no understocking /overstocking is taking place related to agreed inventory days.
- Collect distributor payments, and make sure payments are made promptly.
- Discuss and approve all the support from the distributor management to ensure the necessary processes including customer credit limits, over limits, overdue, stock allocations, and salesforce requirements are in place.
- 6-8 years of proven experience in a similar role in Oman.
- Strong strategic customer/channel/business acumen.
- Excellent leadership, distributor, customer, and people management.
- Ability to develop category/channel/customer strategies into winning operational plans.
- Budget management and P&L responsibility.
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined, working with an external entity with limited supervision.
- Job requires frequent travel within the geographical territories of Oman.
