Operations Support System Associate

This role is office-based in Muscat, Oman

The OSS System Associate is responsible for supporting the management and evolution of the Cygnet OSS Platform, ensuring the smooth flow of network alarms, performance data, and inventory across multiple NMS platforms from vendors such as CIENA, Nokia, Cisco, and Juniper.

The role involves hands‑on work with OSS architecture, integration layers, and network data, while developing skills in scripting, data automation, and operational analytics.

• Support the daily operation and monitoring of the Cygnet OSS Platform.
• Assist in integrating, validating, and maintaining interfaces with NMS platforms from vendors such as CIENA, Nokia, Cisco, and Juniper.
• Troubleshoot OSS platform issues and elevate when necessary.
• Support data ingestion, topology updates, and configuration workflows within the OSS ecosystem.
• Contribute to documentation, including system configurations, integration procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Assist in validating alarms, performance metrics, and network inventory synchronization.
• Validate alarm flows, KPIs, and performance metrics within the OSS environment.
• Assist in updating network topology, configuration data, and system inventories.

• Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Shell, SQL) to automate alarm management workflows, performance data collection, processing, and thresholding, and daily, weekly and monthly reporting tasks.
• Develop automation for repetitive operational tasks and support the streamlining of OSS processes.
• Contribute to the development of dashboards and automated reports for network performance and availability.
• Work with senior engineers to enhance data pipelines and improve process efficiency.

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science, or related field.

• 1–3 years of relevant experience.

• Good understanding of OSS architecture and NMS/EMS systems.
• Basic knowledge of IP/Optical/Transport network technologies.
• Exposure to vendor NMS systems (CIENA, Nokia, Cisco, Juniper) is an advantage.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell, Power Shell, or similar).
• Familiarity with data formats and APIs (REST, SOAP, SNMP, XML, JSON).
• Strong analytical skills with a willingness to learn and grow.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Prior experience in application development, system integration, or operations support is an advantage.
