Operations Governance and Control Environment SME Minimum 12-Week Onsite (Muscat, Oman)
We are partnering with a leading bank in Muscat, Oman, to appoint an independent Operations
Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review the bank’s Operations governance and control environment. This is a 12‑week onsite consultancy (which could be extended to 16 weeks), with pro‑rated salary/day‑rate dependent on experience and all reasonable travel and accommodation and subsistence expenses and visa covered.
- Deep, hands‑on experience in large‑bank centralised Operations, with clear ownership of governance and control environment topics.
- Proven coverage across multiple Operations domains, ideally including payments, trade finance, treasury & markets, cash management, corporate and retail lending operations, cards, and reconciliations.
- Strong track record of evaluating and designing Operations governance frameworks, QA/QC, data and systems/workflow governance, and operational resilience/BCP in high‑volume environments.
- Ability to independently challenge, synthesize findings, and present board‑ and regulator‑ready insights and roadmaps.
- Prior experience in emerging markets or GCC banking environments is advantageous but not essential.
- 12‑week consultancy contract (may extend up to 16 weeks).
- Fully onsite in Muscat, Oman.
- Independent SME mandate focused on Operations governance & control across centralised Operations.
- Pro‑rated compensation / day‑rate (DOE) plus if needed flights, hotel, subsistence and visa costs covered.
- Review Operations governance frameworks, committee structures, escalation, and span‑of‑control.
- Assess operating models, maker‑checker, segregation of duties, and end‑to‑end process ownership.
- Evaluate integration with Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology, QA/QC, issue governance, and data governance.
- Perform deep‑drive reviews across key Operations domains (payments, trade finance, treasury & markets, cash management, corporate/retail lending, cards, reconciliations).
- Identify structural control weaknesses and produce a regulator‑credible uplift roadmap.
