Position: Chief Executive Officer - Future Fund of Oman

Reporting to: Board of Directors (Future Fund of Oman)

JOB PURPOSE

lead strategic direction of the Future Fund of Oman by overseeing the full investment lifecycle including new investments, asset management, and divestments, in full alignment with the Fund’s mandate, objectives, and governance frameworks. The role is accountable for shaping and executing a forward-looking investment strategy that maximizes long‑term value creation, delivers sustainable and risk‑adjusted returns, and capital across economic cycles. The position plays a critical role in positioning the Future Fund of Oman as a trusted and competitive investment partner by attracting high‑quality foreign and local direct investments, forging strategic partnerships, and mobilizing capital into priority sectors and transformational projects.

Through disciplined capital allocation, active portfolio management, and value‑creation initiatives, the role supports Oman economic diversification, private‑sector participation, and the achievement of Oman Vision 2040, while ensuring strong financial performance, governance.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the formulation and continuous refinement of the Fund’s strategy in line with Board directives.
  • Translate strategy into annual operating plans with measurable performance.
  • Inspire and lead a high‑performing team, fostering a values‑driven leadership culture.
  • Oversee the Fund’s operations, ensuring robust processes, effective governance, and disciplined execution.
  • Drive operational efficiency through digitalization, process optimization, automation and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Develop and drive the strategic direction for new investments and business development initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Fund mandate, portfolio strategy and long‑term value creation objectives.
  • Oversee the identification, evaluation, and approval of new investment opportunities, partnerships, and platforms, ensuring disciplined capital deployment and robust risk–return assessment.
  • Lead the expansion and diversification of the investment portfolio through strategic alliances, co‑investments, and growth initiatives that enhance financial performance and strategic impact.
  • Identify market gaps and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, and partners to structure investments that align with Fund mandate, foreign direct investment (FDI), and In‑Country Value (ICV).
  • Provide strategic leadership over the full transaction lifecycle from origination and structuring through, execution value realization, and exit.
  • Ensure all transactions are aligned with the Fund’s mandate and long‑term objectives, protect the Fund’s interests, deliver optimal risk‑adjusted terms, and foster trusted, long‑term partnerships with key counter parties.
  • Lead, through the Funds team, the oversight of shareholder and creditor rights, in line with approved governance frameworks.
  • Set and oversee financial performance objectives for the asset management portfolio, ensuring sustainable returns, capital preservation, and long‑term value creation.
  • Monitor and steer portfolio performance against approved financial targets, benchmarks, and risk parameters.
  • Ensure disciplined financial governance across asset management activities, including capital allocation efficiency, cost optimization, and performance transparency.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of sectors developments, market trends, and investment opportunities.
  • Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, transparency, ethics, and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Maintain effective and trusted relationships with the Board of Directors, regulators, government bodies, and key stakeholders.
  • Achievement of the Fund’s investment and value creation targets in line with Funds overall objectives as agreed with the Funds board, including optimization of investment execution cycle times and capital deployment efficiency and effectiveness of stakeholder engagement, alignment, and partnership outcomes.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of the Fund’s policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable legislative, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and practices, adopting leading international best practices.
  • Drive productivity enhancement, cost optimization, and organizational effectiveness to support long‑term value creation.
  • Champion the development of critical skills.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Preferable CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 18+ years of related work experience, including senior executive leadership experience.
