Job Description
Associate Wet Utility Design with 15+ years of experience leading end‑to‑end design of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater networks for large‑scale infrastructure and development projects. Expert in hydraulic modeling, detailed design, multidisciplinary coordination, and authority approvals. Skilled in guiding project teams, conducting design reviews, ensuring code compliance, and delivering optimized, constructible, and sustainable utility solutions.
Responsibilities- Lead the planning, analysis, and detailed design of potable water, wastewater, and stormwater networks for complex and large‑scale infrastructure, industrial, and mixed‑use developments.
- Oversee and validate hydraulic modeling using advanced tools (EPANET, Water
GEMS/Sewer
GEMS, Info Works, SWMM), ensuring accuracy, redundancy, resilience, and compliance with design standards. - Prepare and review comprehensive design documentation including master plans, feasibility studies, concept designs, detailed design drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, and design reports.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid‑level design engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.
- Drive utility corridor planning, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination with roads, structures, architecture, dry utilities, and BIM teams.
- Manage authority coordination, ensuring timely submissions, clarifications, NOCs, and approvals with Jal Boards/ULBs/state authorities and statutory bodies.
- Conduct advanced design reviews, value engineering, constructability assessments, and optimization of pipelines, pumping systems, and drainage solutions.
- Serve as the technical decision‑maker for material specifications, pipeline sizing, surge considerations, routing strategy, and hydraulic capacity assessments.
- Provide expert guidance on LID/SuDS, flood mitigation, attenuation systems, recharge strategies, and sustainable water management.
- Support project managers with scope management, schedule inputs, risk assessments, cost estimates, bid evaluations, and technical clarifications.
- Review shop drawings, interface requirements, and construction methodologies to ensure alignment with IFC design and field conditions.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, authority guidelines, and quality management processes.
- Engage in client presentations, technical workshops, and cross‑functional design reviews, representing the wet utilities discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering;
Master’s degree preferred.
15+ years of specialized experience in wet utility design (water, wastewater, stormwater) for urban infrastructure, industrial facilities, transit corridors, or large‑scale developments. - Proven expertise in hydraulic modeling software: EPANET, Water
GEMS/Sewer
GEMS, Info Works ICM, SWMM, or equivalent. - Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and exposure to BIM environments (Revit/Navisworks/BIM 360).
- In‑depth knowledge of IS codes, CPHEEO manuals, and relevant standards for water/sewer/stormwater systems; familiarity with MoRTH/NBC guidelines is an advantage.
- Strong background in pipeline materials, pump systems, manholes/chambers, pressure management, and network optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage authority approvals, technical submissions, and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and technical leadership skills with a track record of delivering complex design packages.
- Experience supporting construction teams, reviewing method statements, resolving design‑site conflicts, and providing technical clarifications.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead discussions with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer (IEI), PMP, or equivalent are preferred.
