Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online to ensure positive outcomes.
• Greet pet parents and answer their questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for pickup and ensure a smooth experience.
• Provide care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans.
• Display, fill, and recover products to meet standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoption weekends and charity events.
• Ensure safety for staff, pets, and customers.
• Take immediate action for sick or injured pets, including transport to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear; vision requirements include depth perception.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift over 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, moderate noise, and live animals.
