Job Title: Shop Vehicle & Equipment Painter

Position SummaryThe Shop Painter is responsible for preparing, refinishing, and restoring surfaces on vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure both aesthetic quality and protective durability. This role performs surface preparation, color matching, paint application, and finishing work while maintaining high quality workmanship and safety standards. The Shop Painter collaborates with team members and leadership to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with company expectations.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, masking, and removing old coatings.
- Select, mix, and match paint colors and finishes to meet project specifications.
- Apply primer, sealers, and finish coatings using spray equipment, brushes, or rollers.
- Perform touch‑ups, blending, and refinishing to ensure smooth and uniform results.
- Inspect finished work to ensure quality, coating thickness, surface protection, and adhesion.
- Clean and maintain painting equipment, spray guns, ventilation tools, and work areas.
- Handle materials and chemicals safely in accordance with safety data sheets and environmental regulations.
- Communicate project status and timelines with supervisors and team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
- Assist with general facility, grounds, and shop maintenance to support safe and efficient operations across the shared workspace.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive, equipment, or industrial refinishing.
- Proven experience with surface preparation, color blending, and spray application techniques.
- Familiarity with paint mixing systems, refinishing products, and spray booth operations.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Valid California Driver's License and acceptable driving record required.
This role involves regular physical activity. You must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform work that requires standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and climbing for extended periods, in both indoor and outdoor shop environments. The position also requires frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms to handle, grip, grasp, and operate tools, spray equipment, and mechanical components.
Work will be performed around mechanical equipment, moving parts, chemicals, paint fumes, and varying temperatures while wearing required PPE. These physical tasks are essential to performing the job safely and effectively.
- Hourly Range: $22.00 - $30.00 (DOE)
