Respiratory Therapy- (Full Time, Nights) - Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner administers simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which assist in the treatment and diagnosis of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction. Provides care in general and critical care and specialty areas. Possesses advanced skills in assessment and appropriate application of respiratory care services in one age specific group and intermediate skills in other age groups.

Records treatment and diagnostic information in the medical record. Performs other duties as needed.

An Associate's Degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program required. Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience preferred.

Able to assemble and troubleshoot patient and machine equipment; draw blood; assess (patient or examination); perform preventative maintenance; calibrate equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to perform basic math functions and algebraic calculations;

interpret data; understand microprocessor equipment; understand departmental and hospital information system;
Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; manage multiple assignments effectively; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care;

see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the State of California is required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification and maintaining a current age-specific Advanced Life Support Provider certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through an American Heart Association (AHA) provider training program are required.

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) is required. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support (STABLE) Program certification required, or must be obtained by the sixth month of hire.
