Job Summary:
The Social Worker-Maters in Social Work (MSW) renders social services to patients, families, and hospital staff by assessing patients' psychosocial needs and collaborating with other disciplines to develop treatment plans that address or reduce psychosocial issues hindering effective healthcare. This includes making referrals to community agencies. The social worker provides services across various hospital units, including the emergency department, ICU, medical and surgical units, maternal-child health units, and outpatient units, serving all age groups from infancy to geriatrics.
The role also requires providing on-call coverage after hours and on weekends. Performs other duties as needed.
A Master's Degree in Social Work is required. A minimum of three years of experience in social work demonstrating competencies in leadership, clinical social work, education, and staff development is also required.
Knowledge andSkills:
- Proficient in professional writing and speaking.
- Skilled in using computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment.
- Effective communication skills, positive and professional interaction.
- Leadership qualities, assertiveness, and policy enforcement.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, respond courteously, and collaborate effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and independent work capability.
- Basic math and statistical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recalling information.
- Physical abilities including color and smell discrimination, hearing, visual acuity, and temperature discernment as necessary for patient care.
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
