Position: Manager Patient Access Services - Full Time

Responsibilities

Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital, Wildomar, California
, is a licensed 122‑bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county‑designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight‑Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region’s only Total Joint Center.

Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital, Murrieta, California
, is a 120‑bed acute‑care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on‑site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family‑friendly private suites.

Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children’s.

Employee may be required to float to the other facility within Southwest Health Rancho Springs and Inland Valley Hospital based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided.

The Manager of Patient Access Services is responsible for supervising and overseeing all registration duties to ensure accuracy of patient information, patient demographic information, insurance information, and that prior authorization requirements have been met. Monitors appropriate reports in accordance with the pre‑registration and scheduling processes to ensure timely scheduling, pre‑registration, and insurance verification. Participates in the cross training of employees to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness, and versatility of the Patient Access Services Department.

Works directly with ancillary department members on a regular basis to improve process flow between the PAS Department and other areas of the hospital.

  • Customer Service/Guest Relations – Coordinating and integrating interdepartmental services. Documents all customer service responses and consistently identifies ways to improve customer service and feedback while reducing customer/patient complaints.
  • Participation – Active member of Performance Improvement teams that contribute to organization planning and operations.
  • Policy Development – Develop and implement PAS policies and procedures and ensure that they are in accordance with regulatory and other hospital wide policies.
  • Flexibility/Adaptability – Displays positive traits and qualities needed for a successful manager; has the ability to work with changes in the environment and participate as a team player.
  • Initiative – Takes the responsibility for creating innovative programs and continuously strives to improve department services and organizational performance.
  • Quality – Ensures that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner, providing high quality of care to patients and quality services to all patients.
  • This position is full time, onsite and oversees both facilities.

    Qualifications Minimum Essential Experience
    • Minimum of five years experience in admitting and hospital billing/collections.
    • 2–4 years in supervisory or management role in hospital setting.
    Minimum Essential Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, preferred.
    Required Licensure / Certifications
    • CPAM, CPAT, or applicable designation preferred.
    Essential Knowledge / Skills
    • Admitting experience with expertise in rules and regulations related to admitting. Medical terminology, in-depth knowledge of third‑party rules and regulations related to admission, billing and collections of account receivables.
    • Ability to develop strategic plans, budgets, goals, and policies and procedures.
    • Computer proficient with PC applications, typing, office machines, organizational and communication skills.
