Salary: Murray City is offering salary credit for lateral transfers. Lateral officers will be given one‑for‑one year credit for salary as follows:
- 0 years: $33.12
- 1 year: $34.79
- 2 years: $36.52
- 3 years: $38.34
- 4 years: $39.31
- 5 years: $40.28
- 6 years: $41.29
- 7 years: $42.33
- 8 years: $43.38
- Full salary range tops out at $45.58
- Must obtain Utah L.E.O. POST certification within 12 months of hire; must maintain L.E.O. POST certification
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age at the time of Final date to receive applications
- Must possess a valid Utah Driver License
- Employee’s life or personal safety is placed at risk
Please upload NPOST exam results or any applicable certifications with your application; NPOST results preferred but not required. All qualifying applicants will be scheduled for an interview.
- Assists in responding to life and property threatening calls such as robbery, burglary, family disturbances, theft, and vandalism.
- Assists in investigations and follow‑up investigations. Makes arrests when appropriate.
- Writes and files crime case reports, arrest reports, complaint reports, traffic accident reports for each case handled during the shift; issues tickets to traffic violators and testifies in court.
- Performs traffic enforcement and routine patrol; operates the Intoxilyzer and radar equipment; monitors traffic movement; reports hazards, such as blockages of street view, holes, etc. Excellence.

- Pension through Utah Retirement System
- Vacation – 12 days/yr; sick leave – 12 days/yr; 15 paid holidays
- Shift Differential Pay – 2.5% differential pay for afternoon shift, 5% differential pay for night shift
