Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Position

Operating Room Registered Nurse – Intermountain Medical Center (Murray, Utah)

Responsibilities
  • Assess:
    Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status; seek and evaluate information from patient, family, physician, other health team members, and support staff.
  • Plan:
    Develop an individualized care plan using assessment information and critical thinking; involve patient, family, and team; prepare patients for further support needs after current outcomes are met (teaching, referrals, follow-up).
  • Implement:
    Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration; provide or delegate care aligned with the plan; manage time, supplies, and resources.
  • Evaluate:
    Assess patient response to interventions; revise the care plan as needed and reassess changes.
  • Professionalism:
    Promote nursing profession, uphold legal and ethical standards, comply with regulatory requirements, document accurately and timely, and understand the legal implications of care delivery.

Schedule Details
  • Two shifts per week: 6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
  • Two shifts per week: 6:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
  • Total weekly hours: 36
  • Specific four-day schedule is selected after onboarding based on departmental needs
Call Requirements
  • Eye-call shifts are part of the role
  • Staff self-select approximately 3 call shifts per month
  • Ability to trade or pick up additional call shifts
  • Call shifts during the week: 12 hours
  • Weekend call shifts: 24 hours

  • Assess:
    Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status; collaboratively gathers information from patient, family, physician, and other disciplines.
  • Plan:
    Develops an individualized plan of care with patient and family involvement; coordinates education and referrals as needed.
  • Implement:
    Delegates and coordinates care across the interdisciplinary team; manages time, supplies, and resources consistent with the plan and licensure.
  • Evaluate:
    Evaluates outcomes and revises the plan of care as indicated.
  • Professionalism:
    Promotes the nursing profession, adheres to legal and ethical standards, documents accurately, and understands legal implications of care delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution; degree will be verified.
  • As of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025, BSN is required. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements in place at hire/promotion.
