Title: Child Care Program Director
Reports to: Miller Club Director, Maren Miller
Salary Range/Benefits: $21-$24 DOE. Benefits eligible, 401(k), discounted childcare, paid leave.
Hours: 40 hours/week;
Monday–Friday. Some evenings and weekends required.
Status: Full-time Hourly non-exempt.
Job Summary:
The Child Care Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs for the child care program. The Child Care Program Director also provides leadership, supervision, and evaluation to program and volunteer staff. They manage budgets; control expenses as assigned; and maintain and seek out positive relationships with community partners, school administration, school district partners, and Club parents.
The Child Care Program Director is also responsible for administrative tasks such as monthly program reporting, grant management, grant reporting, and frequent program evaluations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises staff on job responsibilities and Boys & Girls Club expectations
- Provides tools and coaching for success
- Conducts annual staff evaluations and provides ongoing professional development
- Arranges and facilitates training as needed or requested
- Assists staff in planning and implementation of programs
- Creates and maintains excellent rapport with client families, child care licensing, school district personnel/administration and community supporters
- Offers programs that address the needs and interests of child care licensing, families, and community
- Maintains strong communication with families regarding child progress.
- Oversees Curriculum Integration:
Ensures the implementation and consistent delivery of the approved preschool curriculum - Monitors Instructional Quality:
Conducts regular classroom observations to ensure the curriculum is being fully adapted to meet the developmental needs of youth. - Staff Mentorship:
Provides high-level guidance and technical support to teaching staff to facilitate the seamless translation of curricular frameworks into daily lesson plans and interactive learning experiences. - Continuous Improvement:
Evaluates the efficacy of the curriculum through the provided assessments and student outcomes tools - Creates and maintains a structured schedule for staff, youth and parents
- Plans programs that meet the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake goals, objectives, and required grant requirements and plans and facilitates national programs as required
- Responsible for maintaining the budget set for the program
- Responsible for managing expenses and managing supply budget
- Provides guidance to all youth to help them make appropriate choices
- Deals with inappropriate behavior with positive discipline
- Creates safe environments for all youth
- Keeps program spaces clean and organized
- Participates in regular meetings, coaching, and training with supervisor
- Coordinates weekly meetings with staff for updates
- Maintains adequate data collection:
Calendars, Monthly Reports, Attendance Data, Club Reports, and Membership Data - Completes all paperwork as needed in a timely manner
- Ensures the facility maintains compliance with all child care licensing requirements
- Monitors employee licensing including collection and submission of fingerprints and payments to the Department of Health
- Follows all safety policies as outlined in the Protection of Youth Policies
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be able to drive 15 passenger vehicles and have a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a Drug Screening
- Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
- Obtain valid Food Handler's permit as required (the Boys & Girls Clubs will arrange for this)
- Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
- Be adaptable and flexible to change
