Wonderbloom Nature Playschool is a licensed, nature-based early childhood education (ECE) program. Nature-based learning has many benefits - some of which include: increased creativity, greater impulse control, stronger immune system, reduced obesity, better psychological well-being, advanced cognitive skills, increased positive social skills, and more positive attitudes toward nature and the environment. Wonderbloom is based in an urban outdoor classroom and we believe that nature nourishes the child’s mind, body, and soul.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate has formal training in ECE and embodies an interest in, and passion for, nature-based learning. In addition, the candidate will be self‑motivated and communicate empathetically and confidently with staff, children, parents, teachers, and community members. The candidate will be organized and reliable. It is important that the candidate is motivated to deal with the challenges of a start‑up school and provide flexibility and innovation with the team.
We’re looking for someone who is eager to grow the program and grow with us.
- Participate with the Director and Executive Director in the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of program evaluation and maintenance of the program
- Oversee maintenance of children’s files
- Handle all aspects of student enrollment, including tours, registration, and billing
- Develop and maintain organizational systems
- Step in as Director Designee when needed
- Oversee phone and email communication
- Work as a team to maintain Child Care Licensing standards, meet goals, and problem solve
- Other administrative duties as assigned
- When necessary, assist teachers in supervising children during bathroom breaks, diapering, injury accidents, medication administration, or feeding
- Fill in as a classroom teacher when the regular teacher is out
- Create or follow lesson plans; build relationships with children
- Offer teachers support with lesson planning
- Assist Executive Director and Director on implementing and reporting for grants
- Track and organize staff in‑service training and certifications
- Work with Director to plan and implement staff trainings
- Health and Safety Facilitation: oversee implementation of snacks/meals
- Other duties as assigned
- At least one of the following:
- Any bachelor’s or higher education degree, and at least 60 clock hours of approved Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder courses in child development, social and emotional development, and the child care environment; or 60 clock hours of equivalent training as approved by the department
- An associate degree or least 15 college credit hours of child development courses
- A valid national certification such as a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) issued by the National Child Care Association, a Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition, or other equivalent credential as approved by the department
- At least a Level 9 from the Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder system
- A National Administrator Credential (NAC) and at least 60 clock hours of approved Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder courses in child development, social and emotional development, and the child care environment
- At least 2 years experience working in a classroom with children ages 2‑5 years old in a group setting
- Spend at least 3 hours outdoors periodically throughout the week, in all weather conditions
- Strong planning, organizing, and management skills
- Comfortable problem‑solving, dealing with high‑risk situations, and communicating with strangers
- Working knowledge of child care licensing requirements
- Word processing and other computer and internet‑based programs
- Background using the administrative side of Brightwheel
- A rigorous background check, including fingerprinting
- Food Handler’s Permit (cost $30; reimbursed after 90 days)
- Infant and Child CPR/First Aid Certification (estimated $110; reimbursed after 90 days)
- Ability to lift a child
