- Experience and education working with assigned student categories (SED, LD, TMH, EC, Autistic, Severe and Profound, Medically Fragile)
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with administration, staff, and the school community
As assigned to the appropriate Building Principal or Technical Assistant Supervisor.
Primary Functions- The teacher serves as a case manager for all students on their caseload.
- When requested, the teacher serves as a behavioral specialist, assisting staff in developing behavioral intervention plans for students attending local schools and those receiving services in Tri‑County classrooms.
- The teacher provides instruction to students as part of the special education team, minimizing stigma by teaching a variety of special education students.
- The teacher intervenes as an in‑school suspension supervisor for emotionally disturbed students in crisis and, as needed, for other special education students as requested by district and Tri‑County administrative staff.
- The teacher participates in IEP meetings as requested, preparing to share student progress and recommend program goals and objectives.
- The teacher attends all staff meetings at the local public school unless instructed otherwise by supervisor.
- The teacher assists in overall supervision of the building as assigned by the building principal or Technical Assistant Supervisor.
- Teacher works the same hours as other teachers at the local public school building: six hours and forty‑five minutes per school day, 180 days per school year.
- The teacher serves on building committees as requested by local public school staff.
- The teacher follows all guidelines in the "Responsibilities of Teachers" section of the policy manual.
- The teacher assumes other responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
- Integration of Technology into Instruction:
- Demonstrates continual growth in technology knowledge and skills.
- Plans and designs effective learning environments and experiences supported by available software and technology.
- Implements curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning.
- Applies technology to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation strategies.
- Uses technology to enhance productivity and professional practices, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, telecommunications, print/graphic utilities, class attendance (Lighthouse), and IEP programs.
Compensation and benefits are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
