Summary/Objective

Responsible for coordinating the overall production of quality ready‑mix concrete in the most safe, efficient, and cost‑effective manner possible.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the opening and closing of plant facilities as directed by dispatch according to established company procedures and guidelines.
  • Orders raw materials to meet anticipated demands.
  • Maintains proper inventory control procedures over materials to minimize shrinkage and waste.
  • Conducts routine inspections of raw materials to ensure compliance with stated specifications.
  • Ensures all raw materials are loaded into proper silos or bins by internal or external haulers.
  • Operates batch console to make ready‑mix concrete according to SCM and customer specifications.
  • Ensures concrete is loaded and sent to customer job sites efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Assists dispatch with communication with drivers and customers to ensure effective utilization of assets and efficient customer service.
  • Ensures plant equipment, building and grounds are kept neat, clean and in good repair.
  • Helps the Production Manager to ensure all concrete mixer trucks are kept clean and free of concrete build‑up on interior of concrete drum.
  • Helps the Production Manager to ensure the efficient and safe use of personnel to complete all required tasks.
  • Informs the Production Manager and dispatch on a timely basis of any plant activity, issues or concerns that might impact customer service.
  • Communicates with the Production Manager and support departments (fleet/plant maintenance, technical services, human resources, etc.) on a timely basis to identify and resolve questions and/or issues.
  • Ensures company compliance with all company, local, state and federal environmental policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Supervises all employees assigned or working at the location to include administering all applicable company policies and procedures to include managing employee work hours in the most cost‑effective manner.
  • Operates equipment on the plant site as needed.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to plant equipment.
  • Completes administrative tasks timely and accurately to include cash sales report, delivery tickets, raw material receipts and other reports as needed/requested.
  • Conducts monthly safety meeting with all employees with guidance from the Production Manager.
  • Assists in the training of all employee new hires at the site.
  • Monitors and records, if necessary, daily attendance of all production employees at the site as directed by the Production Manager.
  • Assists the Production Manager and dispatch in monitoring all delivery employees at the site.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
  • Minimum age of 21 years old required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in concrete production required to include at least 1 year as a concrete mixer driver.
  • Prefer some experience supervising others.
  • Current, valid state driver’s license required.
  • Current, valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Satisfactory driving and criminal record.
  • DOT Level 1 Certification required.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with simple math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (especially percentages) as well as measurements.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks.
