Pet Smart’s Salon Experience Lead (Groomer & Salon Trainer) provides exceptional service to pet parents and supports a high performing team while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. The role delivers professional quality services with the utmost focus on quality and care of pets, and supports the development of bathers and new stylists through the pet stylist development program.

• Facilitate the associate experience and support associate development through training, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching.
• Provide feedback for associate performance reviews, disciplinary action, and promotions.
• Develop associates through bather and/or stylist certification processes.
• Identify internal candidates for academy training to become stylists.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily salon tasks.
• Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
• Recognize and celebrate associates driving engagement.

• Ensure a superior pet parent experience in all interactions – phone, in person, or online.
• Greets and supports pet parents, answers questions, and recommends wellness solutions.
• Engages pet parents at checkout to promote connection and rebooking.
• Communicates and drives pet parent engagement around marketing promotions.
• Uses salon tools (booking system, call logs) for reservations and appointment calls.
• Maintains store standards and enforces compliance with policies and procedures.
• Performs full menu of bath, brush, and grooming services, including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services.
• Promotes salon sales opportunities to meet targets and productivity metrics.
• Maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area.
• Responds to sick or injured pets, taking immediate action and reporting as needed.
• Communicates business trends and best practices to leadership.
• Reports facility or supply needs to leadership.
• Recommends, informs, and sells services and merchandise.
• Assists and works in other departments as required.

• 2+ years of grooming experience; may be asked to complete a technical exam.
• Full-time availability; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency with tools, equipment, and products for safe technical work.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.

• No direct reports; expected to guide and support the development of other associates.
• Provides performance feedback to direct supervisors.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hands to handle, hold, write, and more.
• Frequently reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift more than 100 pounds.
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, a wet environment with pet hair, and moderate noise levels.
• Exposure to live animals and their handling is common.

Exact pay will be based on relevant experience, training, skills, and store location. The position is paid per hour and is eligible for the benefits described at
