- Plan, organize, direct, and oversee all aspects of risk management activities.
- Implement a robust risk management program throughout the facility.
- Collaborate with the corporate risk management department and Legal team to assess liability and probabilities of legal action.
- Lead investigations and analyze actual and potential risks in the facility.
- Develop and implement infrastructures and systems that support patient safety.
- Promote a culture of safety by encouraging incident reporting and developing measurable safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with employees and facility leadership to streamline the incident reporting process and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, state, and federal laws.
- Identify high‑risk areas that could cause harm to patients, staff, or visitors.
- Provide staff development and training related to identifying, reporting, mitigating, and minimizing risk.
- Coordinate with Patient Advocate and QAPI disciplines to review complaints, conduct root‑cause analyses, and establish a Safe Catch Program.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for risk management activities, performance improvement, policy/procedure development, and compliance initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a clinical healthcare, risk management, business, finance, or related field (required). Master’s degree in health information management, nursing, or related field preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in a risk management position (required).
- One or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with CARF, DEA, Joint Commission, or CMS surveys appropriate to supported service lines.
- CPHRM preferred.
- CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required (training provided).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
