Relief Operator
$49,942 - $61,678; commensurate with experience
Job Summary /Basic FunctionPerform preventative maintenance tasks on support equipment to hot water heating systems throughout the campus. On occasion the Relief operator will be assigned a shift to operate, maintain, and adjust boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, and other ancillary related equipment for a centralized boiler plant at a large university. This position will work in a centralized power plant, industrial type environment as well as large machine rooms in other buildings that have standby boiler systems.
This position is normal day shift primarily. The occasions that the operator is assigned a shift other than day shift may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required to complete an in-house training class for boiler operation and safety within 90 days of employment led by the Assistant Supervisor of the Boiler Shop as well as completion of 80 hours supervised on the job training of operation of boiler within 90 days of employment.
Related experience working with complex machinery.
Required License/Registration/CertificationValid driver's license required.
