POSITION SUMMARY

To facilitate the accurate and timely tasks of prepping, scanning and indexing documents into the patient's electronic record and deficiency analysis following established standards.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
High School Graduate or G.E.D.

Workplace

Experience:

Hospital experience preferred.
Strong communication skills required.
Strong clerical skills.
Organizational skills.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Computer skills preferred
Keyboarding
Good number-letter recognition skills.

Physical Environment:
Office

Physical Effort:
Prolonged sitting, repetitive motion i.e. keyboarding, bending, reaching, and stretching to retrieve items up to 15 pounds.
Prolonged viewing of computer screens and charts consisting of typed and handwritten entries.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  • Performs batch ‘prep' functions to ensure patient charts/documents are ready to be scanned and indexed into Meditech
  • Performs scanning functions on documents while maintaining integrity of batch assembly and monitoring images for completeness and legibility.
  • Performs verification and indexing of images for quality completeness and account/document identification.
  • Moves scanned medical record documents associated with the wrong patient, wrong account or wrong document type.
  • Meets turn-around-time standards for processing of charts from discharge to availability in Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Meets quality standards for prepping medical record documents for all patient types.
  • Meets quality standards for indexing of medical record documents for all patient types.
  • Meets productivity standards for prepping of medical record documents for all patient types.
  • Meets productivity standards for scanning of medical record documents for all patient types.
  • Meets productivity standards for indexing of medical record documents for all patient types.
  • Has proficient knowledge of Hospital electronic health record system which includes; patient search, incomplete system and EHR/EMR navigation.
  • Performs accurate deficiency analysis for all patient types according to established standards to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS and other Regulatory agencies.
