Overview
The House Manager (HM) will ensure the home(s) assigned will operate within all regulatory guidelines. The HM will use Person Centered principles; will ensure the home is properly staffed at all times based on staffing plans and person supported needs; and will train, mentor and support the Direct Support Professionals (DSP) of assigned homes. The HM will report to the Program Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Understands and promotes people supported goals as well as personal, dignity, respect, individualism and quality of life
- Manage, train and support assigned staff to maintain or improve quality of life for persons supported; complete performance evaluations and reviews, which may include performance management
- Schedule staff effectively to ensure coverage for assigned homes
- Ensure all Reportable and Non-Reportable events are reported before the end of shift, if applicable
- Oversight of medications in assigned homes, including monitoring levels, ordering refills, monitoring administration by staff, as needed in compliance with DIDD guidelines and Medication Safety Policy
- Oversight of various plans and programs(dining, activities, outings, behavior, PT, OT, SLP, and/or guidelines), which may include implementation, training, monitoring, and engaging in performance management of staff
- Oversight of accurate documentation by DSPs to data systems, including EMARS/MARS, with observations, activities and reactions of persons supported in support of the person’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), other plans and billing, as necessary, which may result in corrective action for DSPs who are not in compliance
- Monitor and support persons supported use of funds, which may include monitoring purchases and teaching persons supported in the area of budgeting, to ensure effective use of funds, which includes HM reconciliation of physical inventories of purchases over set limit (currently $50)
- Coordinate and assist in purchasing groceries and following balanced and nutritious meals as applicable
- Actively lead team meetings for people supported
- Provide direct support for people supported with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, housekeeping, ambulating, and transferring, etc.), routines, developing job skills, and learning new skills personalized to each person as well as monitoring medical and health related tasks
- Complete maintenance requests timely for technical or home maintenance issues and ensure that maintenance is completed in a timely fashion
- Promote community participation by providing DSPs and persons supported with education of, exposure to, and experiences within the community by scheduling weekly activities
- Provides opportunities for choice making and identifying and acquiring valued social roles in integrated community setting, including but not limited to membership in local groups, clubs and organizations
- Promote, support, and use Person Centered practices and tools to enhance persons supported quality of life and advocate for persons supported when necessary
- Model behaviors to teach person(s) supported to increase independence as they perform tasks such as cleaning and other personal responsibilities
- Follow agency policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and any operation guides, which includes monthly fire/emergency drills
- Treat persons supported with respect at all times
- Maintain confidentiality of information related to persons supported, staff and agency information
- Any duty of DSPs, when such duty cannot be delegated due to staffing or other issues
- High level of integrity
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and objective at all times
- Ability to coach, train/teach staff and persons supported
- Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification, Medication Administration training, Relias, TIMAS, and other trainings and certifications as required within assigned time frames
- Proficient in technical skills (Microsoft products preferred), including typing
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and planning skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year experience in field of supporting persons with Intellectual Disabilities as a DSP
- Class D Driver license for State of Tennessee
