We are currently seeking an Activities Director to join our team to develop and implement activity programs in compliance with requirements to meet our residents needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with older adults and a creative mindset to develop stimulating activities that promote social interaction and enhance overall well-being.
ResponsibilitiesWill include:
- Assessing the needs and interests of individuals to develop relevant and engaging activities
- Plan, develop, implement and schedule weekly and monthly programs for activities including coordinating a wide range of activities and events for residents, both on-site and off-site.
- Oversee the Activities department budget, including procurement of supplies and allocation of resources.
- Ensure that all activities comply with safety regulations and that participant residents are safe during events and travel.
- Maintaining regular communication with staff, residents and their families about activity schedules and any changes.
- Provide individualized support and assistance to residents who require additional help or accommodation during activities
- Assess and complete sections of Minimum Date Set (MDS) completely, timely and accurately
- Care planning of concerns related to a resident’s activity
- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend all resident care conferences.
- Participate in urging restorative and rehabilitative programs
- Supervise barber and beauty parlor activities
- Plan, schedule and implement indoor and outdoor activity programs
- Plan and implement evening and weekend functions as necessary
- Take part in in-service education programs and attend all in-service sessions related to activity programs
- Recruiting, training and supervising staff involved in activities programs and transportation for appointments and planned trips.
- A bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, occupational therapy or a related field is preferred.
- Certification such as Activity Director Certified (ADC) credential from the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) is required.
- Experience with event planning and organizations skills to coordinate multiple activities and events.
- Previous experience with resident activities, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively engage with diverse groups and manage staff.
