Job Summary / Basic FunctionProvide assistance to the Coordinator Athlete Eligibility/Certifying Officer with tasks that include: reviewing and confirming overall academic and general eligibility for student athletes – freshman, transfer, and continuing – for 17 sports on a term by term basis; completing end‑of‑term processing for each student athlete; helping prepare NCAA reports; performing data entry to track eligibility; running iSQL reports to ensure data accuracy;
answering general questions related to admission requirements from prospective student athletes who are in the recruiting process.
Help the Coordinator research and interpret rules for coaches, student athletes, and administrators relating to NCAA Bylaw 14. As necessary, meet with coaching staff to identify missing documents/information related to MTSU’s Institutional Request List (IRL). Attend Athletic Committee meetings, professional seminars and regional rules seminars as appropriate. Perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.
Required EducationBachelor’s Degree in Business, Math, Computer‑Related Field, Health and Human Performance or related area required.
Note:
a high school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) and five years of related experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
One year of progressively responsible related work experience in athlete compliance, degree audit, secretarial/clerical/data entry.
Desirable Related ExperienceTwo years related work experience in higher education in enrollment/student affairs, athletics and/or NCAA regulations preferred.
