Overview
Music (Director of Choral Activities), Tenure-Track Faculty at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#225040) at the rank of assistant or associate professor to serve as the Director of Choral Activities. The start date is August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary leader in recruitment, artistic direction, and strategic planning for ensemble growth for all MTSU choral ensembles.
- Direct Schola Cantorum in rehearsal and performance.
- Prepare undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting, music education, and related areas based on the candidate s specialization.
- Demonstrate excellent musicianship and knowledge of standard choral literature, with a commitment to the performance of new music and current performance practice.
- Incorporate cross-disciplinary initiatives and engage with diverse genres.
- Apply current instructional strategies for K-12 and collegiate classrooms and contribute to comprehensive musical training and research at MTSU.

Education:
A terminal degree in conducting or music education is required by the appointment date. - Required Experience:
Three years of full-time teaching at the collegiate level is required. - Desirable:
Applicants with a minimum of three years of middle school or high school classroom teaching experience will receive special consideration.
