The Department of Social Work at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#168090) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be highly engaged in research and community service and pursue interdisciplinary collaboration with potential for external funding and contracts. The department expects a collaborative, engaged, student-centered approach to performance and responsibilities.

A terminal degree (PhD, DSW, or equivalent) in social work AND a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program are required by the appointment date.

An equivalent of two (2) years of post-master's clinical social work practice paid or volunteer experience is required. The applicant must clearly identify post-master's social work practice experience in the curriculum vitae.

Licensed or license-eligible at the Master of Social Work level is required by the appointment date.

Applicants with clinical practice and research experience in areas such as military and veterans, children and families, trauma, older adults, or integrated behavioral and physical health and wellness will receive special consideration. Applicants with at least one (1) year of experience teaching in a higher education setting will receive special consideration.
