Job Summary / Basic FunctionServe as a member of the Student Unions leadership team. Assist the Student Unions facilities/event coordination staff with providing technical assistance and services for all student union facilities that include the MTSU Student Union, the Keathley University Center, the James Union Building, and all associated outdoor facilities. Demonstrate the use of technical and audio visual equipment and remain onsite during events for problem resolution.
Hire and train student workers to assist with providing audio visual services for events, meetings, and the daily operations of the student union facilities. Assist to forecast maintenance plans for audio visual equipment, equipment purchases, warranties, and upkeep. Maintain an inventory of all technical equipment and ensure continued access and availability of equipment. Assist in event management by serving as a liaison for assigned events between internal and external clients and MTSU constituents, including Production Services, Telecommunications, and ITD.
Provide effective maintenance and customer service to students, departments and external groups during events. Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned to assist in the management of facilities and events.
Bachelor's degree in Audio Production, Video Production, Technical Theatre, Computer Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Studies, Engineering, or related area required.
Required Related ExperienceTwo years of audiovisual/technical experience including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or repair of microcomputers, audio visual equipment and peripherals; comprehensive customer service. Directly related experience as a student worker or intern may be applied toward the minimum experience requirement (e.g., 12 months of experience will be credited as six months of full-time experience).
Desirable Related ExperienceFive (5) years of hands on audiovisual/technical experience and comprehensive event planning/customer service experience with demonstrated leadership preferred. Prior experience working with college students or university programs and/or setting preferred.
