Prepare and serve deli items by slicing meats and cheeses, frying/baking, making sandwiches and salads, and operating equipment such as slicers, scales, ovens and fryers. Provide customer service including taking special orders, suggesting products, stocking and rotating inventory, and maintaining food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness. May require food handler certification and involves inspecting product freshness, packaging items, building displays, and general department maintenance.

Summary: As a Deli associate, some of your duties will include slicing deli meats and cheeses to order, frying and baking chicken and other products, preparing sandwiches, salads, entrees and more. You will provide product suggestions and assist customers with special orders while you provide our customers with outstanding customer service. You will stock cases and ensure that our customers have a variety of high-quality deli items to choose from.

You will ensure complete compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements throughout your daily work. You will clean and sanitize dishes, food preparation areas, and equipment. In some areas, you may be required to obtain a food handler's certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Deli Clerk activities:

* Operate stove/oven/fryer

Other activities:

* Take orders

* Build displays

* Clean/sanitize department, backroom and cooler/freezer

Knowledge Requirements: A positive customer service attitude & pleasant personality, effective memory skills, excellent hand eye coordination, dependability, ability to follow directions & a strong willingness to learn.
