Position Summary
The RN Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements- Minimum of an ASN degree from an accredited college or university
- Currently licensed/registered in applicable State; must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment
- Two (2) years supervisory experience in a post‑acute care or related setting
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation, and must remain current during employment
Job Requirements
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
- Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
- Collects, analyzes, and manages data
- Has expert knowledge in field of practice
- Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Is knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post‑acute care facility
- Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Performs proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, establishes benchmarks, and directs staff
- Recruits, selects, hires, trains, evaluates, counsels, and supervises nursing staff
- Assigns appropriate level of CNAs and LPNs per shift
- Effectively manages department budget
- Directs care provided by nursing staff
- Performs functions of a staff nurse as required
- Effectively manages and operates within budget
- Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
- Assists in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts, pushes, pulls, stoops, walks, reaches, and moves intermittently during working hours
- Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language
