Indiana American Water is seeking a motivated Maintenance and Relief Operator to join our team in Muncie, IN
. In this role, you will be tasked with day‑to‑day preventative and diagnostic maintenance at a surface water treatment plant and remote sites. When needed, you will get to experience operating the plant including making process control changes, monitoring the treatment, and performing routine lab testing and reporting.

• Perform plant maintenance and relief operations which include electrical, pump and motor maintenance, chlorinators and chemical feed equipment, calibration of process control equipment and instrumentation, receiving and unloading chemical deliveries, facility maintenance and snow/ice removal, valve maintenance and operations, operation of backhoe, forklift and company vehicles, and walking to the carbon feed room. Specific handling tasks include walking up/down flights of stairs with railing, lifting 50# bag of powdered activated carbon, and using pallet jack, utility knife, gloves, apron, respirator, and various hand and power tools.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as cleaning lab and computer area, sweeping and mopping floors, shoveling walkways and steps, and managing cleaning supplies. Tasks require standing, walking, lifting, and hand‑tool use.
• Use a computer for data entry and operating pumps, which requires seated work, fine motor coordination, and use of a mouse and keyboard.
• Occasionally collect samples from wet labs and outside basin, walking in all weather and climbing ladders as necessary.
