Ball State University Intercollegiate Athletics invites applications for a Field Hockey Graduate Assistant. The GA will support the Head Coach and staff in the day‑to‑day operations of a Division I program, including coaching support, player development, recruiting operations support, and administrative functions. The selected candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to operating within all Ball State University, Mid‑American Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
AboutThis Job Opportunity
This is a full graduate assistantship position. You will work 20 hours each week during the 2026‑27 academic year. You will receive a stipend and tuition remission benefits.
For master’s students, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on their undergraduate degree (or 3.0 in the latter half of the previous degree) is required to obtain an assistantship.
For doctoral students, a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required and a minimum graduate GPA of 3.2 on their master’s degree (if a master’s degree is required for admission).
To maintain a graduate assistantship appointment, all graduate students must also maintain good academic standing with the University (3.0 for a Master’s student and 3.2 for a Doctoral student) and stay enrolled in at least 6 graduate credit hours per semester.
Coaching & Player Development- Assist with planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and skill
- Support game preparation, scouting, and opponent
- Contribute to individual player development plans and positional Program Operations
- Assist with team travel preparation and itineraries
- Assist with CARA logs and other operational duties
- Assist practice setup, game preparation, equipment/gear organization, field
- Assist with video exchange, breakdown, and internal analytics workflows (as assigned).
- Assist with recruiting operations, including communications support, visit logistics, and database/records
- Support creation/organization of recruiting materials and coordination of recruiting‑related administrative
- Promote a positive student‑athlete experience consistent with Ball State and team
- Coordinate/support community engagement, camps/clinics, and alumni relations activities as
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all NCAA, MAC, and institutional policies; complete required
- Bachelor’s degree completed prior to start
- Must be admitted to a Ball State graduate program and maintain graduate enrollment/eligibility
- Ability to work 20 hours per week during the appointment
- Availability for evenings/weekends and team travel as
- Demonstrated organizational skills, professionalism, and strong communication
- Playing and/or coaching experience in field hockey (collegiate level preferred).
- Experience with video breakdown, scouting workflows, or sport performance
- Familiarity with recruiting operations in collegiate Compensation and benefits (Graduate Assistantship)
- Tuition remission per Ball State Graduate School policy (Graduate Assistantship includes 30 credit hours; non‑resident tuition waived; student remains responsible for student service fee, mandatory fees, and applicable program/course fees).
- Biweekly stipend (amount determined by the hiring department).
