Position Title: Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of German
Compensation: $57,000 - $61,000

The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities is a residential school for academically gifted high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and is located on the campus of Ball State University. The Indiana Academy welcomes applications for a full-time, 10-month (academic year) contract position, renewable based on satisfactory job performance. Anticipated assignments include three sections per semester of German I, German II, and German III, in addition to Colloquium, student advising, or other service requirements.
Student needs and teacher experience will determine the final course load. Indiana Academy faculty have the opportunity to create unique courses tailored to their areas of specialization, including AP, dual-credit, and specialty courses.

Responsibilities- Teach 12 credit hours each in fall and spring semesters of topical courses in German I, II, and III, and other German electives, in addition to Colloquium, student advising, or other service requirements. Final course load is determined by student needs and teacher experience, with German electives that match the candidate’s specialty possible.
- Teach a colloquium course or be assigned a service duty each semester.
- Hold approximately 10 office hours per week.
- Provide professional service through Outreach programs of the Indiana Academy and engage in scholarly activity.
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in German with demonstrated expert-level linguistic skill and fluency. Acceptable degrees include MA in German, MA in Teaching, MA in Education, or MA in Applied Linguistics with emphasis in German.
- Previous teaching experience at the secondary or undergraduate collegiate level.
- Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in German.
- Significant previous teaching experience at the secondary or undergraduate collegiate level.
- Qualified to teach courses in other languages or English as a second language.

Salary Range: $57,000 - $61,000
