This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with clients and various teams regionally and globally across the entire Property & Casualty (P&C) line of business!

About the Role

The In-force Management Expert & Commutation Specialist works with a high level of autonomy and ownership, acting as In-force Manager for French-speaking markets and for selected Underwriting Portfolios and Market Units in EMEA. You will be responsible for the Commutation and Novation strategy, with a focus on engaging with clients and stakeholders, as well as originating and executing commutation and novation deal opportunities.

In addition, you support and challenge the Product Portfolio Managers and Market Units while jointly taking ownership of portfolio performance, aligned with Reinsurance Smart Circle processes and responsibilities.

Key responsibilities
  • Propose, steer and execute portfolio activities, including de-risking liabilities and freeing up capacity for new business through Commutations, Novation and other tools.
  • Analyze and interpret financial results under the various valuation methods used within Swiss Re.
  • Collaborate with Operations functions to manage and utilize in-force business datasets to enable and conduct portfolio analysis.
  • Proactively monitor the P&C Re in-force portfolios to help avoid surprises in business performance.

About You

You are solution-driven, creative and innovative. You are experienced in engaging and negotiating with reinsurance clients. Your strong interpersonal skills have earned you a proven track record in managing diversity and working effectively within a matrix organization. Effective and proactive communication skills, combined with excellent strategic agility, organization and planning, enable you to make sound decisions and implement strategies successfully.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the Property and Casualty (re) insurance industry; experience in Client Management, Underwriting, Portfolio Management, Claims or Actuarial functions is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of the world of Legacy.
  • Good understanding of client's financials such as e.g. balance sheet, understanding the needs of our customers being able to originate and negotiate Commutation- and Novation deals.
  • Excellent communication skills, as well outside the company.
  • Excellent proficiency in Business French, both written and spoken.
  • Proactive approach with an independent working style and strong self-initiative.
  • Relationship builder who engages with others, establishes commitment, and takes a cross-functional view, while constructively challenging others within and outside Operations.
  • Experienced skills in leading colleagues by example and motivation as well as influencing key stakeholders.
  • Team and change management experience essential
Salary and benefits

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 70,000 and EUR 116,000 for a full-time role.
