Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Automotive EV Traction Solutions Job Description
The dynamic vehicle electrification market is rapidly growing. The traction inverter high power module is no longer just an off-the-shelf semiconductor solution, but rather an integral part of the overall electric drivetrain architecture.
We are seeking a passionate Electrical Specialist with expertise in power module design to come on board onsemi’s Automotive Traction Solutions business unit and be part of our quest to be the global Intelligent Power solutions leader.
We have an innovative portfolio of IGBT & Silicon Carbide (SiC) high power modules and we look forward to enhancing our product roadmap with creative solutions that enables us to meet our customer needs.
The successful applicant will be based in Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance will be provided as needed. We are also open to exceptional talent to be remotely located in other regions.
Responsibilities- You have ownership of the electrical design of the power module. We want you to lead initiatives to consolidate the electrical characteristics of the chip, package and application into physical electrical models that can be holistically analyzed; after which constructive inputs provided for further optimization.
- You will lead package developers, application engineers and chip designers to formulate a working predictive design model. You will work with computer-aided electronic tools such as SIMetrix, Ansys Electronics Desktop and other necessary methods to achieve this.
- Upon availability of electrical characterization measurement analysis of physical samples, you are required to further calibrate your predictive design model.
- Enjoy the creative responsibility of working towards defining our power module technology roadmap. You are the electrical specialist responsible to benchmark our solutions at a system level for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with our application engineers and customers to formulate a holistic system level analysis to analyze interaction between the module and how it operates in a real-life environment.
- Participate in a team to formulate a system level design FMEA as part of risk management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics or related technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience in power module design or device physics, with strong preference to candidates with experience in the automotive electrification market space.
- Proficiency in computer-aided simulation and design tools such as Solid Works, PSpice, SIMetrix or Sentaurus. Experience TCAD, Cadence or Ansys Electronics is an added advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, fluency in English a must.
