Head – Modern Trade (National)

Compensation Range: ₹40L Fixed + Variable + ESOPs

The company already has deep penetration in modern retail and is now focused on accelerating growth through stronger retail partnerships, expanded product ranges, and disciplined in‑store execution.
About the Role We are looking for a Head of Modern Trade to further level up our national modern trade business. The role focuses on building deep partnerships with retail chains, driving joint business plans, expanding assortment, and improving both revenue and margin through well‑structured trade initiatives and in‑store execution.
Based in Mumbai, this role works closely with internal sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance teams while maintaining strong engagement with buying and account management teams across major retail chains.
Key Responsibilities Joint Business Planning & Account Growth
Build and execute joint business plans with key modern trade partners to grow revenue and profitability.
Expand assortment, shelf presence, and category participation across stores.
Identify opportunities to deepen distribution and increase share of shelf.
Trade Strategy & Promotions
Design trade schemes, consumer promotions, and retail activations to drive offtake.
Optimize pricing, promotions, and margin structures across accounts.
Track ROI on trade spends and promotional investments.
Account Relationships
Build strong relationships with buying and account teams across major retail chains.
Align on targets, promotional calendars, and category growth initiatives.
Execution & Store Performance
Oversee store execution including promoter deployment and in‑store visibility.
Ensure discipline across listings, replenishment, and planogram compliance.
Performance Management
Track sales, margins, and account‑level profitability.
Use data to identify opportunities for SKU expansion and improved unit economics.
Current Context Presence in 300+ DMart stores with 200+ promoters deployed .
Significant opportunity to expand SKU range and scale revenue and margins across DMart and other modern trade chains.
Ideal Candidate 6–10 years experience in FMCG/consumer brands with strong modern trade exposure .
Experience managing modern trade accounts at a zonal or national level .
Strong understanding of trade economics, retail promotions, and account negotiations.
Strong relationship builder with a high ownership and execution mindset.
