Position: Project Director – Data Centre Project | A UK based Project Management Consulting Firm
Role Purpose

The Project Director will lead and oversee the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale hyperscale data centre campus in Navi Mumbai on behalf of the company. The role is responsible for strategic leadership, client interface, commercial governance, programme delivery, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to global data centre standards.

The individual will act as the senior-most representative of the company on the project and will work closely with the leadership, design consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Governance
Provide overall leadership for the Navi Mumbai Data Centre programme.
Establish project execution strategy aligned with client objectives.
Drive governance framework, reporting structure, and performance monitoring.
Lead cross-functional teams including design, construction, MEP , commissioning, and commercial functions.
Ensure compliance with the firm’s global delivery standards and best practices.

2. Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Manage coordination with statutory authorities, utilities, and regulatory bodies.
Represent the company in executive-level review meetings.

3. Programme & Schedule Management
Oversee development and monitoring of master programme.
Ensure milestone achievement for civil, structural, MEP , and commissioning phases.
Drive mitigation strategies for delays and risk events.
Monitor interdependencies across multiple phases of the data centre campus.

4. Commercial & Financial Oversight
Ensure robust cost management and budget control.
Review and approve contractor payment certifications.
Lead value engineering initiatives.
Manage change control processes and claims mitigation.
Ensure financial transparency and reporting to client and the company leadership.

5. Technical Oversight (Data Centre Specific)
Ensure adherence to Tier III / Tier IV design standards (as applicable).
Oversee high-voltage infrastructure, UPS systems, cooling systems, BMS, fire protection, and redundancy design.
Supervise testing & commissioning processes to achieve required uptime standards ( e.g., 99.999% ).
Ensure compliance with global hyperscale client expectations.

6. Risk, Compliance & Quality Assurance
Implement project
-wide risk management framework.
Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and environmental norms.
Maintain high HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes.
Conduct regular audits and governance reviews.

7. Team & Contractor Management
Lead multidisciplinary project teams including planners, engineers, cost managers, and project managers.
Oversee EPC contractors, MEP contractors, and specialist vendors.
Drive performance management and accountability across all stakeholders.
Mentor and develop internal project teams.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering ( Civil / Electrical / Mechanical) – mandatory.
Master’s Degree in Construction Management / MBA – preferred.
Professional certifications such as PMP , MRICS, or equivalent – desirable.
